Alert: Hind Rajab Foundation Files Complaint Against Lieutenant Amit Nechmya, Now Suspected of Fleeing Justice

6/1/2025

Nechmya and his Platoon were involved in using prisoners as human shields, looting and forced displacement of civilians in Gaza.
Buenos Aires- Argentina
On January 2, 2025, the Hind Rajab Foundation filed a legal case against Lieutenant Amit Nechmya, a platoon commander in the Latak Platoon of the Givati Brigade’s Rotem Battalion (435). Led by our lawyer Rodolfo Yanzón in Argentina, the case charges Nechmya with war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide.
We have recently uncovered evidence that, as of yesterday, Lieutenant Nechmya destroyed crucial evidence regarding his presence and activities in Gaza, further demonstrating his attempt to evade accountability.

Key Evidence of Violations

Human Shield Incidents in Jabalia Refugee Camp and Rafah (July and October 2024):
Video evidence from Latak Platoon’s social media shows soldiers, under Nechmya’s command, posing with a blindfolded Palestinian man used as a human shield. Additional footage reveals blindfolded Palestinians forced into degrading and humiliating positions, in clear violation of international law.

Looting and Destruction in Rafah and Gaza City (May 24, 2024):
Testimonies and photographs show Nechmya looting clothing from displaced Palestinian families. He also orchestrated attacks on civilian infrastructure, including the burning of homes.

Forced Displacement in Khan Younis (November 3, 2024):
Witnesses and video recordings document Nechmya supervising the forced displacement of Palestinian families. Audio recordings capture his orders to demolish civilian homes, even with residents still inside.

These actions constitute blatant violations of the Rome Statute, including the use of civilians as human shields (Article 8(2)(b)(xxiii)), inhumane treatment (Article 8(2)(a)(ii)), and the systematic persecution and forced displacement of civilians (Articles 7(1)(d) and 7(1)(h)).

Call to Action

In light of these revelations and Nechmya's ongoing attempts to destroy evidence and flee accountability, we urgently call on the Argentine authorities to:

1. Issue an Immediate Arrest Warrant for Lieutenant Amit Nechmya.

2. Conduct a Comprehensive Investigation into his activities and evidence destruction.

3. Cooperate with International Bodies, including Interpol, to prevent further evasion and ensure his prosecution.

The Hind Rajab Foundation remains resolute in its mission to hold perpetrators of war crimes accountable. Justice for Palestine demands unwavering vigilance and action.
